When a President lies ...

On June 4, 2009 President Barack Obama lied to the Muslim world in a speech in Cairo and sold out the citizens of the United States (whom he allegedly represents) for his own political expediency.

The lie? This quote from the speech:
"For instance, in the United States, rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation."

This pandering to, (and manipulation of), the Islamic public, who are not savvy to U.S. law, feeds to the false notion in the Middle East that Islamic charities in America are being persecuted and discriminated against. The perceived notion is that the tools used to discriminate are provisions of U.S law and the USA Patriot Act which allow prosecutions of Islamic organizations in the U.S for sending funds and 'material support' to terrorist organizations overseas. This self serving, manipulative, phrase came from the President of the United States, but could easily have been the words of Ayman al-Zawahiri or Osama Bin Laden. One wonders if they were pleased.

This was a lie. It was not word parsing, it was not 'nuance', it was not difference of opinion, it was pure and simply a lie. Barack Obama is fully aware that the law of the United States on this matter prosecutes any organization that provides support to specific terrorist organizations designated by the Department of State. The law makes NO mention of Islam nor does it name any other religion or type of group.

The State Department list of terrorist organizations lists groups other than Islamic-related and includes everything from political separatist groups to the I.R.A in Ireland. While it is unfortunate that most of the groups on the list are Islamic-related, and most of the most recent high profile violators of the law are Islamic charities in the U.S, the law is not aimed at Islam nor does it mention it.

How have we come to a point where a President of the United States would demean his country and it's citizens in front of a foreign audience? Not withstanding his recent numerous American apologetics in front of other foreign peoples, this has crossed a serious line. To deliberately leave a false impression of American oppression of Islam in front of an Islamic audience by distorting and leaving out the relevant facts is outrageous ... nor is it the first time he has done so.

In a previous interview on Al-Arabiya TV: "... because all too often the United States starts by dictating"

President Barack Hussein Obama, if you truly dislike and despise the broken and damaged country that elected you, and are incapable of standing up for it's citizens who spent the last two and a half centuries creating a pillar and beacon of greatness in the world, then move ... say to Cairo! Or, at the very least, please broadcast your hostility and shame towards your own country within the borders of your own country.
